The Mud Lake Thimble Peak Run was a good run. But, we did not go to Thimble
Peak and we only stopped briefly at Mud Lake. Most of the day was spent
traversing the Bear River Trail.
Tom M. and Al W. in Al's TJ, Richard O. in his Unlimited TJ, Jim and Vick D. in
their TJ and Tim W in his YJ. met at the usual rendezvous place on Hazel and Hwy
50. The group of four Jeeps left at 8:10 am.
We drove East on Hwy 50, exiting at Sly Park. We then drove along the Mormon Emigrant
until we reached Hwy 88. We turned right and drove until we came to the Bear
River Reservoir.
By the time we reached the Bear River Reservoir dam we had driven 70 miles.
The next 25 miles would be off-road driving along the Bear River Trail.
But first... time to air down and disconnect those manual sway bar links.

We stopped for lunch on the trail before we began the difficult rock climbs.

Most of the trail is a 2 or 3,
but a short section is a 4 with
no by passes.
Arriving at the first rock obstacle everyone got out to find the best line
for their Jeep

Al drove through first

Richard went next choosing a more difficult line, and making it look easy

Tim went next

Jim followed Tim

The only vehicle damage was when a tree jumped out and ripped off Tim's front
fender
Here is one of the US Forestry's tricks
The road is closed with red trail markers on the side of the trail (not in
the center),
yet the sign post points to the trail.
